Al Alvine
Al Alvine is Head Coach of Cal U's Women's Soccer team. He was the 2009 NSCAA Atlantic Region Coach of the Year and 2009 PSAC West Coach of the Year. The Vulcans have enjoyed great successes under his leadership. Prior to his arrival at Cal U, Alvine served as head coach at Saint Anselm, a NCAA Division II program in Manchester, N.H. and previously coached teams at Castleton State (Vt.) , the New Hampshire Lady Phantoms of the W-League, served as head coach of the under-17 girls Olympic Development Program (ODP) girl’s program in Vermont and New Hampshire, Director of Coaching for the Rutland County Soccer Club in Vermont and as a staff coach for the NH Classics, a premier soccer organization in New Hampshire. A 1992 graduate from Robert Morris University in Pittsburgh, Pa., Alvine was a four-year starter and senior captain on the men’s varsity soccer team. During his scholastic career at DePaul High School in Wayne, N.J., he was a four-year starter, three-year all-state selection and two-year captain. He was also a three-year member of the New Jersey ODP program and a player within the Sportfriends S.C. and Union Lancers youth organizations. Other playing experience include stints with the Staten Island Vipers of the USISL and the Brooklyn Italians of the Cosmopolitan Soccer League. Alvine holds an “A” license from the United States Soccer Federation.
Brian Shrum
Brian Shrum's list of soccer experience includes: ODP Head Coach, ODP Director of Girls, USYSA Region 1 Coach, Assistant Coach St. Vincent Women's Soccer team, and PA West Coaching Education instructor. Shrummy holds a M.S. degree in Exercise Science, concentration Sports Performance and Injury Prevention. He is also Assistant Strength and Conditioning coach California University of PA and has C.S.C.S certification from NSCA.
Ed Wietholder
Ed Wietholder, President and Head Performance Director of Strength, Fitness and Speed, Inc., combines thirty years of experience with an unrelenting and dynamic passion for excellence in performance training. His education and his practical knowledge of fitness, strength, speed and athleticism have helped thousands of Pittsburgh area athletes train and perform at their best. Ed’s extensive work with soccer players has inspired him to develop soccer-specific athleticism drills and conditioning protocols that will improve the overall fitness, skills and speed of Century United players. He has collaborated with some of the area’s top soccer coaches to create a program that will help Century athletes strengthen every part of their game, including stamina, acceleration and a quicker first step to the ball. In short: they’ll play stronger. A University of Pittsburgh graduate, Ed worked as a Perfusionist at Children’s Hospital of Pittsburgh before devoting himself full-time to the pursuit of his passion for fitness and conditioning in 1998.
